Health benefits of Turmeric

  Turmeric comes from the rhizome (root) of a native Asian plant and has been used in cooking for hundreds of years. It has also been used in ayurvedic and other forms of traditional medicine in China and India.Turmeric is a yellow spice that contains an active compound called curcumin, which is responsible for many of its health benefits. Here are some potential health benefits of turmeric:




1. Anti-inflammatory properties 

Curcumin has strong anti-inflammatory effects. It can help reduce inflammation in the body and may be beneficial in managing chronic inflammatory conditions like arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, and even certain types of cancer.     

2. Pain relief

Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, turmeric may help alleviate pain associated with conditions like arthritis, muscle sprains, and joint inflammation. It may offer a natural alternative to conventional pain relievers.

As beneficial as turmeric's nutritional advantages might be, more curcumin is not always better, and too much can be dangerous.Turmeric supplements, for example, may raise your chance of kidney stones, especially if this runs in your family. Curcumin pills provide far larger amounts of the chemical than a person would get from eating turmeric-flavored foods or drinking turmeric tea.While turmeric is generally safe to consume in tea or food, if you are sensitive to the spice, it may induce a rash, hives, or gastrointestinal ache.The majority of the negative effects are linked to extremely high curcumin concentrations seen in supplements (pills, capsules, and gummies).




Turmeric tea recipe 

Turmeric root, like ginger, may be brewed into a healthy and pleasant tea. 

  • 2 tablespoons minced turmeric root or 2 teaspoons turmeric powder
  • Bring 1-2 cups water to a boil.
  • Reduce to a simmer for 5 minutes, then strain.

You can drink turmeric tea warm or cold, and you can add lemon and/or honey to change the taste.
